My office is a sailboat.

The course of remote work between waves and lines of code.

Thanks to Odda Luca Fadda, a 31-year-old Sardinian programmer, he can work on international projects without giving up his love for the sea. A story of professionalism, dreams fulfilled, and communities supported.

Working on a sailboat, sailing through the wonderful seas of Sardinia or the Balearic Archipelago.
The mediation of Odda, a company specialized in IT consulting and talent development, recently listed among the “Stelle del Sud” by Il Sole 24 Ore, is a key part of this story featuring Sardinian programmer Luca Fadda.
At 31, he had the courage to open his own VAT-registered business and trusted the right people by choosing this company from Pescara, capable of turning some dreams into reality.
Today, he develops international projects while being caressed by the island winds and gazing at the beauty of his sea. He has the professional life many dream of, but he is also a witness to a real response to the employment challenges affecting many young talents in Sardinia and beyond.

An independent and professional job

Luca, then, decided two years ago to leave his position as an employee at an IT company in search of greater freedom. Originally from Carbonia Iglesias and having moved to Cagliari, he wanted to find a fully remote work solution. That’s when he came across Odda. "Without them, I could never have thought of achieving this goal. They thoroughly analyzed my skills and talent and managed to connect me with high-level international companies, interesting and perfect for me."

Could you have found them on your own? "Honestly, no, and that’s why Odda is fundamental for me. Professionally, I’ve been fortunate to work on important projects even independently. I’ve been able to take responsibility for individual decisions that I didn’t have before. I also have the privilege of often being included in international work environments, which frequently have characteristics different from Italian ones."

In what way? "There is less rigidity in roles, and dialogue at all levels—even with decision-makers—is extremely easy and productive."

The interview in the Balearic Islands

Today, Fadda’s office really is a sailboat. "Ah, absolutely. I have two smartphones: one I use normally, and the other serves as a hotspot for work. The signal? You just need to stay close to the coast, and it’s completely possible in front of almost every beach."
This also led to some truly unique interviews. "I remember one in front of the island of Mallorca. At one point, the managers asked why my video frame was shaking, and I had to explain where I was. It was funny."

A new future with Odda

In the work of connection that Odda carries out daily, there is not only the ability to make life dreams come true while maintaining a very high level of efficiency and professionalism, but also a social mission.
Especially in the context of Sardinia, this becomes evident, as Luca himself explains.
"It is well known that work on the island is not a simple issue. It is difficult to find employment that allows young people to stay close to their families and this wonderful sea. Many of my friends are looking for solutions like the one I am fortunate to experience, so they don’t have to relocate. Odda truly helps communities stay alive and slows brain drain by valuing talent where it is or where people wish to live."

The philosophy of Odda

There is, therefore, a concrete and clear philosophy that drives Odda. "We operate in a fully remote mode, Coccia continues, demonstrating to national and international companies that talent exists and can be found anywhere. We rely on a hub of over 200 IT professionals, offering services in IT consulting, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, AI, and UX/UI Design. We collaborate with more than 50 companies, including partners, corporates, and international clients. Growth has been extraordinary, with revenue increasing from €132,000 in 2021 to €1.3 million in 2024—a +756% rise, with an average annual growth rate of +121.72%."

About ODDA
ODDA is an IT consulting firm that operates in a full-remote mode, with the aim of demonstrating to national and international companies that talent exists and can be anywhere. Through a Hub of more than 200 IT professionals, it offers IT consulting, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, AI and UX/UI Design services, collaborating with more than 50 partner, corporate and international companies. The company was founded by 6 partners in 2016 as a startup with an app in the entertainment sector, reaching 50,000 active users in 2018. Then, in 2020, thanks to the pandemic, the project was interrupted and a change of direction was decided: today's ODDA was born, a reality that adopted a work model based on flexibility, inclusiveness and quality, allowing talents to connect with large realities beyond geographical constraints. The company's growth was consolidated in 2023 when sales exceeded one million (+700% since 2021). ODDA aims to expand its Hub at European level, promoting an approach to work that values talent and encourages knowledge sharing, with a positive impact on the IT sector and on the labor market. What sets ODDA apart is the inverse approach to IT consulting: it does not seek talent for customers, but tailor-made projects to make the most of the consultants' skills. He believes that success derives from the encounter between the right talent and the ideal context in which to best express one's value.
